A century plant off the front porch

This summer a century plant right below my front porch bloomed. This is it's first and last bloom ever, after  sending up this long stalk and opening flowers over weeks, the stalk will set seed, and the plant will die. This stalk is the grand culmination of its life. Therefore, I thought it worthwhile to track the many pollinators drawn to the flowers this summer.
Hummingbirds

Butterflies

This is its view

Sphinx moths
The blooms are gone, now it is a perch for this little hawk

Please remember, for more information on the desert Southwest including places to go and things to see, I write an (almost) daily column on Tucson Outdoor Recreation at Examiner.com. The link can be found here.
